The General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon is a fourth-generation light multi-role fighter aircraft that has become one of the most widely used combat aircraft in the world. The F-16A/B Block 20 version was developed in the early 1990s as an upgraded variant of the original F-16A/B, equipped with avionics and software equivalent to the more advanced F-16C/D Block 50/52. As a result of these modifications, the machines gained greatly improved combat capabilities and could carry a wide range of modern armament.
The Block 20 has become a feature of the Taiwanese Air Force (ROCAF) in particular, which has operated this version since the 1990s and has gradually further upgraded it under the F-16V programme. The aircraft are used for airspace protection, offensive missions and support to allied operations and represent a key component of Taiwan's defence force.
