1/48 Mil Mi-17 Hip - Slovak AF
This is a special cover for the Mil Mi-17 Hip (Hip-H) 1:48, originally from AvantGarde Model Kits (AMK), now released under the Annetra brand with an exclusive focus on machines in the service of the Slovak Air Force.
This detailed kit delivers a modern model with accurate shape, elaborate interior and realistic curved rotor blades straight from the mold. The package includes a set of decals with options for the Slovak Air Force (after the division of the Czechoslovakia ), the Czechoslovak Air Force and more exotic operators, making it an ideal choice for modelers interested in domestic aviation. Etched parts and optional armament are included.
The Mil Mi-17 helicopter (NATO code: Hip-H) represents a deep modernization of the iconic Mi-8 platform. It is a key multirole helicopter, primarily used to transport people and cargo, but also has robust capabilities as an armed combat helicopter. The early Mi-17 variants differ from the original Mi-8 with more powerful Klimov TV3-117MT engines and the relocation of the balance rotor to the left side of the tail spar.
After the partition of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the Slovak Air Force (Vzdušné sily Ozbrojených síl of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic) took over part of the Mi-17 helicopter fleet. These machines became the backbone of Slovak helicopter transport and rescue operations. Thanks to their durability, easy maintenance and ability to operate in harsh conditions, Slovak Mi-17s were also deployed in NATO missions abroad, for example in KFOR in Kosovo. Some Slovak machines later underwent modernization (e.g. However, the basic Mi-17 "Hip" platform remained at the heart of the fleet until its gradual replacement by Western machines.
