1/72 FV4101 Charioteer Mk.VIIA British Tank
IBG 1/72 FV4101 Charioteer Mk.VIIA is a 1/72 scale model of a British post-war tank. The kit captures the characteristic silhouette of the machine, which was a modification of the Cromwell tank and carried a powerful 20lb gun.
The British FV4101 Charioteer Mk.VIIA tank was developed in the early 1950s as an interim solution to increase the firepower of armoured units. The design was based on the proven Cromwell tank chassis, which was fitted with a new turret with a 20-pounder (84mm) gun, also used on early versions of the Centurion tank. This modification allowed the British troops to be quickly reinforced at a time when there was a risk of confrontation with Soviet tanks.
The Charioteer never became the main battle tank of the British Army, but was widely exported - to Austria, Jordan, Finland and the Middle East, where it took part in the fighting of the 1960s. The combination of a mobile chassis and powerful armament made it an interesting, if short-lived, type in the development of British tanks.
IBG' s 1/72 scale kit faithfully captures the proportions and details of this post-war tank. The fine surface finish and realistic shapes make it an ideal addition to collections of post-war equipment and for creating dioramas reflecting the conflicts of the 1950s and 1960s.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
