1/32 Bf 109K-4 part 4 - Swan song of the Messerschmitts
ASK 1/32 Bf 109K-4 part 4 from the Swan song of the Messerschmitts series offers decals for three May 1945 aircraft: two of JG 52 at Deutsch Brod and one of 14./JG 53 near Munich.
The fourth sheet of the Swan song of the Messerschmitts series in 1/32 scale (roughly A5) provides markings for three Bf 109K-4s:
- Bf 109K-4, Stab I./JG 52, Deutsch Brod (today Havlíčkův Brod), Czechoslovakia, May 1945 – linked with Erich Hartmann, in a different scheme from sheet part 3 (200-D32096)
- Bf 109K-4, Stab III./JG 52, Adolf Borchers, Deutsch Brod, May 1945
- Bf 109K-4, W.Nr. 332579, 14./JG 53, Schleissheim-Holzkirchen near Munich, May 1945
The Bf 109K-4 was the last production version of the Messerschmitt Bf 109. It reached Luftwaffe units from autumn 1944 and flew until the final days of the war, often in the inconsistent camouflage schemes of late production. The two aircraft from Deutsch Brod illustrate the last days of JG 52 on the territory of today's Czech Republic. If necessary, the decal carrier varnish can be removed by washing it off with Zippo lighter fluid.
