This early version, with its extended fuselage and liquid-cooled Jumo 213 engine, was deployed mainly in the final stages of the war. A great choice for German aviation enthusiasts. Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 D-9 was the German Air Force's answer to the need for a high-altitude fighter capable of facing Allied bombers and escort fighters. The D-9 version, nicknamed "Dora", represented a major technical shift - the original radial engine was replaced by a liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo 213A engine, resulting in a longer fuselage and cooling modifications. The aircraft thus gained higher range and speed.
Early production batches of the Fw 190 D-9 appeared in late 1944 and were quickly inducted into the armament of elite units such as JG 54 and JG 26. Although relatively few were deployed, their performance was so convincing that they gained respect even among enemy pilots. The Fw 190 D-9 was one of the Luftwaffe's best fighters at the very end of the war.
This 1/32 scale kit features a detailed rendition of the early production version of the Fw 190 D-9 with authentic features such as the fuselage shape, cockpit and armament. With high quality mouldings and precise detail, it is both a challenge and a joy for experienced modellers. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
