1/32 OS2U KingFisher

The Vought OS2U Kingfisher was a single-engine reconnaissance and observation seaplane developed in the second half of the 1930s for the US Navy. Due to its design, it was intended for catapult launches from the decks of battleships and cruisers, followed by landing on the surface of the water where it was picked up by a ship's crane. The aircraft replaced older biplanes and became one of the U.S. Navy's primary reconnaissance aircraft during World War II.

The Kingfisher was widely used not only for reconnaissance flights and correcting artillery fire, but also for search and rescue missions. Among its most notable missions was the rescue of downed pilots in the Pacific, often landing in the open sea to pick up survivors. The aircraft was designed to be rugged and reliable, with its buoyancy floats allowing safe water landings even in moderately difficult conditions. In addition to the standard float version, a wheeled undercarriage variant was produced for operations from land bases.

The 1/32 scale OS2U Kingfisher kit offers modelers the opportunity to build a detailed replica of this important aircraft.
