MiniArt's 1/35th scale model of the 7.5cm Pak 40/4 Selbstfahrlafette RSO is a German self-propelled gun on a Raupenschlepper Ost (RSO) tracked tractor chassis. This improvised tank interceptor was developed in response to the need for a mobile anti-tank weapon for the Eastern Front. The kit includes detailed plastic parts, realistic interior of the fighting compartment and engine compartment, photo-etched parts and authentic decals. Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The 7.5cm Pak 40/4 Selbstfahrlafette RSO was a German self-propelled anti-tank gun that was developed in 1943 as an emergency solution for the Eastern Front battlefield. The basis of the design was the RSO tracked tractor, which was originally intended for transporting material and artillery equipment in the extreme conditions of the Soviet Union. A 75mm Pak 40 anti-tank gun was mounted on its open hull, giving it high firepower but also exposing the crew to enemy fire.
The deployment of this machine was limited because the lack of armour protection and high profile increased its vulnerability. Still, thanks to its mobility and powerful gun, it was capable of threatening Soviet T-34s and other armor at the front, where conventional towed guns had difficulty moving in difficult terrain.
