1/35 British Medium Tank Mk.A Whippet
Meng 1/35 British Medium Tank Mk.A Whippet is a 1/35th scale plastic model construction kit of a British medium tank from WWI. This type was designed as a complement to heavy tanks and due to its speed and mobility it was intended to support infantry and penetrate the enemy rear.
The Mk.A Whippet tank was the first British medium tank to see combat. Unlike the heavy Mark-series tanks, which were slow and designed primarily to breach trenches, the Whippet was developed with an emphasis on greater speed and maneuverability. The result was a vehicle powered by a pair of Taylor engines with a total output of 90 hp, capable of reaching speeds of up to 13 km/h—a significant improvement for its time.
The Whippet was armed with four machine guns mounted in the hull and had a crew of three. It saw its first combat action in 1918 and proved particularly effective in attacks on lightly defended targets and in breakthroughs into enemy rear areas. Although it was unable to withstand heavy fire, its speed and reliability secured it an important place in the history of armored forces as a transitional link between heavy tanks and more modern, fast armored vehicles.
The Meng 1/35 scale kit offers a highly detailed model of this pioneering tank. The precise rendering of the hull, tracks, and distinctive silhouette make the Whippet an attractive addition to the collection of any modeler interested in World War I armored vehicles.
The package does not include the paints or adhesives needed for assembly.
