1/35 Pz. Kpfw.IV AUSF.E TIGER I INITIAL PRODUCTION, s Pz Abt.502, LENINGRAD REGION 1942/
Brand: Dragon

Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger I was one of the most feared tanks of World War II and its deployment marked a qualitative leap in the armoured strength of the Wehrmacht. The Tiger I was developed as a response to the Soviet KV-1 and T-34 heavy tanks, which surprised German troops on the Eastern Front with their durability and armament. The result was a machine equipped with an 88mm KwK 36 gun, thick armour and a robust chassis that could destroy enemy tanks at ranges where it itself remained relatively safe. Early production (Initial Production) was characterized by specific design features that changed in later versions - for example, the type of smokegrenade launchers, turret details, optics design, and other small details that are important to modelers and historians to accurately identify the period and deployment.

The Heavy Tank Battalion 502 (schwere Panzer-Abteilung 502, abbreviated as s.Pz.Abt.502) was one of the first units equipped with Tiger I's and was deployed on the northern section of the Eastern Front in the Leningrad area in the winter of 1942/1943. This area presented an extremely challenging combat environment - deep snow, mud, freezing temperatures and heavily wooded terrain placed high demands on both equipment and crews. The Tigers here performed the role of breakthrough and support tanks in both defensive and more limited offensive operations. The appearance of vehicles from this era often included winter paintwork (white washable paint over a basic dark greyed paint), service wear, mud, snow, and other signs of heavy use in difficult conditions.

The 1:35 scale Dragon kit is designed for more advanced modelers who appreciate historical accuracy and detail. The model depicts an early production type Tiger I with characteristic features corresponding to the vehicles deployed in the s.Pz.Abt.502 - This includes the specific configuration of the exhaust system, type of running wheels, design of the command cupola and other details typical of the 1942-1943 period. Scale 1:35 scale allows for precise processing of the chassis, armour plates, armament and small accessories and is the idealideal for creating dioramas depicting winter battle scenes or equipment in the field. To achieve an authentic look, it is advisable to use surface highlighting techniques (washing, dry brushing), application of winter paintand depicting operational wear and tear appropriate to the harsh conditions of the northern front. The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
