1/35 Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf E Sd.Kfz. 181 Wittmann's Last Tiger
Brand: Dragon

Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E, known as the Tiger I, was one of the most iconic heavy tanks of World War II. Weighing over 50 tons, heavily armoured and with a barrel of 8.8 cm KwK 36, it was a formidable force on the battlefield at the time of its deployment in 1942. The Tiger I was designed for breakthrough operations and the destruction of enemy armour at long range, where its gun couldcould penetrate the armour of most Allied tanks, while its own armour resisted conventional anti-tank weaponry. Despite its technical superiority, however, the Tiger I suffered from high weight, complex mechanics, and difficult manufacturing, which limited its numbers and operational reliability.

Michael Wittmann was one of the most famous Tiger I tank commanders and achieved legendary status for his successes on both the Eastern and Western Fronts. As a member of the schwere SS-Panzer-Abteilung 101 (later renumbered 501), he achieved dozens of confirmed enemy vehicle kills. His most famous action was the Battle of Villers-Bocage on 13 June 1944, when he virtually single-handedly halted the advance of the British 7th Armoured Division and destroyed a large number of vehicles in a single day. Wittmann was killed on 8. On August 8, 1944, during Operation Totalize south of Caen in Normandy, when his Tiger was hit and destroyed - the exact circumstances of his death remain a matter of debate among historians, but the most likely versions refer to a hit from a Canadian Sherman Firefly tank or a British Sherman.

The 1:35 scale Dragon kit depicts Wittmann's last Tiger I in a version corresponding to the late 1944 Normandy deployment. Scale 1:35 is the standard for military equipment and allows for detailed work with armor plates, running wheels, tracked undercarriage, turret and otherTiger I features such as Zimmerit (antimagnetic paste, if applied), spare parts and equipment. The model is suitable for more advanced modellers who appreciate historical authenticity and the possibility of weatheringTiger I in Normandy was typically covered with dust, mud, paint wear and traces of intense combat deployment.

For modelers focused on historical accuracy, it is important to pay attention to the specific details of Wittmann's machine, such as the tactical number, camouflage, and condition of the vehicle at the time of its destruction. The kit offers the opportunity to create an authentic replica of one of the most famous tanks of World War II, associated with one of the most prominent figures of tank combat. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
