1/35 Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.H Late
The Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.H Late kit by Border Model in 1:35 scale represents a late variant of the German Panzer IV medium tank. Ausf.H was the most numerous variant produced and was distinguished by the use of the powerful 75mm cannonKwK 40 L/48, anti-tank armour (Schürzen) and new, late production modifications. The kit is rich in detail, includes an interior and offers fully functional running gear.
The Panzerkampfwagen IV (Pz.Kpfw.IV) was a medium tank used by the German army during World War II. It was the only German tank that was produced throughout the entire war, from 1937 to 1945. Originally a support vehicle with a short-barreled gun, the Panzer IV evolved into a main battle tank.
Production of the Ausf.H variant began in 1943, and it became the most widely produced version of the Panzer IV, with more than 3,700 units manufactured. A key improvement was the powerful 7.5 cm KwK 40 L/48 gun, which provided sufficient firepower to combat most Allied tanks. To increase protection, additional plate armor, known as “Schürzen, ” was mounted on the hull and turret to protect against cumulative rounds. Late Ausf.H versions were characterized by the absence of front sighting devices on the turret, minor design simplifications for easier production, and typical steel road wheels on support rollers instead of the rubber ones used previously.
The Panzer IV Ausf.H played a key role in all major battles from 1943 until the end of the war, including the Battle of Kursk, the fighting in Normandy, and the Battle of the Bulge. Despite the arrival of the Panther and Tiger tanks, the Panzer IV remained the backbone of the German armored forces.
