1/48 F-86F Sabre double-sided express fit mask for Airfix
ASK mask in 1/48 scale for the F-86F Sabre from Airfix, made in a double-sided Express Fit version. Besides the outer cockpit masks and ring masks, it carries masks for the inner side of the glazing.
ASK drew the mask shapes itself, working directly from the glazing of the Airfix F-86F Sabre kit in 1/48 scale. Sheet ASK 200-M48291 from the SCALE MASK range holds the shaped masks 1 and 2 with the long curved strips 4 and 6 along the frames, and the similarly shaped group 8, 9, 11 and 13; thanks to the double-sided layout, both the outer and the inner surfaces of the glazing are covered. The lower part is taken up by the large ring masks 17 and 18, joined by the small round masks 16.
The USAF also flew the F model of the Sabre in the Korean War; it had a more powerful engine and the “6-3” wing without leading-edge slats. The six .50 calibre machine guns in the nose stayed the same. The one-sided version of the set is 200-M48290.
