The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18A Hornet is a multirole airborne fighter aircraft that has been in service with the armed forces of several nations since the 1980s. Its versatility and ability to perform both fighter and attack roles have made it one of the most successful combat aircraft of its generation. Australia inducted the F/A-18A into service in 1985 and the machine became the backbone of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for over three decades.
During Operation Okra, launched in 2014, Australian F/A-18A Hornets were deployed on combat missions against the ISIS terrorist organization in Iraq and Syria. The aircraft conducted strikes on ground targets, support of coalition forces and reconnaissance flights. This mission was one of the most significant deployments of Australian Hornets in modern conflicts and demonstrated their reliability and effectiveness in combat conditions.
The 1/48 scale Kinetic kit offers a detailed rendition of the F/A-18A as it served in the RAAF during Operation Okra. The model features finely engraved details, authentic shapes and high quality decals with Australian machine markings.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
