1/48 FM-2 double-sided express fit mask for Eduard
ASK masks for the Eduard FM-2 Wildcat in 1/48 come as a double-sided Express Fit set. Besides the outer glazing masks, they include a group for the inner side of the frames and four ring-shaped masks.
ASK designs its masks in-house; this set is drawn directly from the parts of the Eduard FM-2 Wildcat kit (1/48). Sheet ASK 200-M48218 from the SCALE MASK range carries shaped and rectangular pane masks with lower numbers, a row of rounded masks 19 and the matching group 22–38 – one set for the outer and one for the inner side of the glazing, so the frames seen from the cockpit stay clean as well. Four ring-shaped masks numbered 21 run down the right-hand side. The one-sided version is 200-M48217.
The FM-2, informally known as the Wilder Wildcat, was optimised for small carriers. Wildcats flying from escort carriers supported, among other operations, the landings on the Philippine island of Leyte, where together with Avengers they also attacked Japanese surface forces. The shapes match the Eduard kit in 1/48 scale.
