1/48 He-162 recommended for Tamiya

The Heinkel He-162 "Salamander" (or Volksjäger) was one of the Luftwaffe's last attempts to rapidly deploy a jet fighter in the final phase of World War II. It was created in response to a critical shortage of modern machines and experienced pilots - it was to be simple to produce, cheap and capable of operating with minimal training. The design was unusual: a small wooden fuselage with a jet engine mounted on the back of the fuselage, giving the machine a distinctive look. Although the He-162 reached high speeds and was a dangerous adversary in the hands of experienced pilots, its operational deployment was limited and it no longer influenced the war.

The He-162's cockpit instrument panel reflected the German standards of the time: a functional arrangement of basic flight instruments, fuel gauges and engine controls, all in the characteristic black design with white markings and dials. For modellers, the He-162 cockpit presents a challenge - the original plastic parts of the kits often lack the finesse and legibility of the individual instruments, which detracts from the overall impression of the finished model.

The Yahu Model add-on solves this problem with a color-printed etched part that delivers a significantly higher level of detail. The etched metal provides precision shapes and depth of relief, while the color printing gives the individual instruments a realistic look without the need for hand painting. The part is designed to exactly match the dimensions and placement in Tamiya's 1:48 scale kits. Installation requires standard photoetch work - separating the part from the carrier, bending as instructed if necessary, and gluing with appropriate adhesive (second or special photoetch adhesive is recommended).
