1/48 Palmer 700 x 85 spoked wheels, UK WWI, for Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Pup, Sopwitch Snipe
ASK 200-A48039 are 3D-printed Palmer wire-spoked wheels in 1/48 scale for the British First World War fighters Sopwith Camel, Pup and Snipe.
The ASK wheels in 1/48 scale have dense wire spoking, a flanged hub and tyres with raised Palmer Cord Aero Tyre lettering on the sidewall. The design is based on period drawings. The open spoking can be seen right through the wheel in 3D print, something a plastic disc with moulded spokes cannot imitate.
Palmer tyres were widespread on British aircraft during the First World War. The Sopwith Pup and Camel were among the best-known fighters of the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service, and the Snipe began replacing the Camel at the end of the war. On these light biplanes, the wheels are clearly visible on the finished model.
