1/48 Shenyang J-5 (MIG-17 F) PLAAF
Kinetic 1/48 Shenyang J-5 (MiG-17F) PLAAF is a plastic kit of the Chinese version of the famous Soviet jet fighter in 1/48 scale. The J-5, produced in China under license of the MiG-17F, served as the main day fighter of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) in the 1950s and 1960s. The kit features detailed fuselage, cockpit and armament detail including authentic decals for the Chinese Air Force.
The Shenyang J-5 was the Chinese version of the Soviet MiG-17F, a single-engine jet fighter developed in the first half of the 1950s. The MiG-17 was a follow-up to the successful MiG-15 and introduced an improved arrow-shaped wing, a highera more powerful VK-1F afterburner engine and improved high-speed flight characteristics. China licensed its production in the late 1950s, and the first indigenous machines, designated the J-5, were produced by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation factory.
The J-5 formed the backbone of China's fighter force during the 1950s and 1960s and was deployed both in training and patrolling border areas. It later became the basis for the development of other Chinese types, including the J-5A and the two-seat J-5 trainer. J-5s were also exported to several friendly countries, where they served for many years.
The 1/48th scale Kinetic kit provides a detailed rendition of the Chinese version of the MiG-17F with precisely sculptedm fuselage, realistic panels, fine engravings and armament, including typical auxiliary tanks. Authentic decals allow the model to be built in PLAAF livery as flown in the 1950s and 1960s. The model is an ideal choice for Cold War jet aviation enthusiasts.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
