1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe
Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe is a model of one of the late and most widely used variants of the iconic British WWII fighter aircraft. The Mk.IXe version, equipped with a redesigned E-wing and combined arms, served in the RAF from 1944 and took part in combat over Europe in the post-war period. The kit offers accurate shapes, fine paneling and realistic details of the cockpit and armament.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX was created as a quick response to the German Fw 190 and became one of the most important and powerful versions of the famous British fighter. The later Mk.IXe variant, introduced in 1944, featured a modified E-wing with a new armament arrangement, combining two 20mm guns with a pair of .50 calibre machine guns. This model of Spitfire served in RAF and Allied units on both the Western and Eastern Fronts, and frequently appeared in post-war squadrons. With its balanced performance, reliability and characteristic sleek lines, the Mk.IXe is one of the most iconic late variants.
The 1/48th scale Airfix kit offers accurate fuselage and wing shaping, sharp surface paneling and a richly detailed cockpit that allows for a realistic representation of the flight deck.
