1/48 U.S. Navy A-12 Avenger II
Brand: Modelcollect

The A-12 Avenger II project was initiated in the 1980s as a replacement for the A-6 Intruder airborne attack aircraft. The U.S. Navy required a machine with longer range, the ability to carry precision-guided munitions, and most importantly, a reduced radar footprint. The result was a futuristic-looking concept for a two-seat "flying wing" aircraftthat would carry armament in an internal bomb bay and be powered by a pair of General Electric F412 engines.

The aircraft, nicknamed the "Flying Dorito" because of its shape, never made it into the air. Due to continuing technical complications, rising costs and political pressure, the program was cancelled in 1991, although several prototypes were already built and in development. The A-12 Avenger II thus remained one of the most famous "what if" projects in American aviation.

Modelcollect's 1/48 scale kit presents a model of this never-flying machine with detailed fuselage, wings and landing gear. With its unusual design and prominent place in military aviation history, it is an ideal piece for all modelers interested in prototypes and cancelled projects.

The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
