The Bell UH-1N Iroquois, commonly referred to as the "Twin Huey", is a twin-engine multi-role helicopter developed from the successful UH-1 Huey. The first flight took place in 1969 and the helicopter was subsequently introduced into service with the armed forces of the United States and other countries. The UH-1N is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PT6 turboshaft engines, giving it a top speed of approximately 130 knots (240 km/h) and a range of up to 17,300 feet (5,273 metres). The helicopter has been designed for a wide range of missions, including troop transport, casualty evacuation, rescue operations and combat missions with the ability to be armed with machine guns and missile pods.
