1/48 Wright R-2600 Cyclone 14 (Twin Cyclone), catalog number 200-A48090

1 pc., 3D construction and 3D printing

The Wright R-2600 Cyclone 14 (also known as the "Twin Cyclone") is an American-designed radial aircraft engine, widely used during World War II to power bombers, torpedo bombers, and commercial airliners. Produced by Wright Aeronautical (a division of Curtiss-Wright), this 14-cylinder, two-row, air-cooled engine was developed in the late 1930s as a more powerful successor to the single-row R-1820 Cyclone 9.

Key Details & Technical Specifications
  • Engine Type: 14-cylinder, two-row, air-cooled radial engine.
  • Displacement: 2,604 cubic inches (42.7 liters).
  • Power Output: Ranged from 1,500 hp initially to over 1,800 hp in later variants.
  • Weight: Approximately 1,980 lbs (898 kg).
  • Dimensions: Roughly 54.25 inches in diameter and 64.84 inches in length.
  • Design Features: Included a two-speed centrifugal supercharger, sodium-cooled exhaust valves, and a 16:9 reduction gear ratio.

Notable Applications
The R-2600 was a workhorse for the U.S. military, with over 50,000 units produced, powering several iconic aircraft: North American B-25 Mitchell (bomber).

  • Grumman TBF/TBM Avenger (torpedo bomber).
  • Curtiss SB2C Helldiver (dive bomber).
  • Douglas A-20 Havoc (bomber).
  • Martin PBM Mariner (flying boat).
  • Boeing Model 314 Clipper (civilian flying boat).
Development and History
Development began around 1935, with the engine entering service in 1939. It featured a 6.125-inch bore and 6.312-inch stroke. While it was initially considered for the Curtiss C-46 Commando, that aircraft eventually used the more powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800. The R-2600 was largely superseded by larger radial engines after the end of World War II.
  • Unparalleled realism: the kit includes one complete engin with incredibly sharp cylinder ribbing, detailed ignition wiring and perfectly scaled bolt heads.

  • Seamless integration.

  • Unlike traditional cast resin, our 3D design eliminates complex castings and preserves even the smallest microscopic details of the cylinder heads.
