1/72 Bf 109B "Berta" Over Spain
AZ-Model 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf 109B "Berta" over Spain is a 1/72 scale model of an early version of the famous German fighter aircraft. The Bf 109B was deployed during the Spanish Civil War, where it made its combat debut and proved its worth against the Soviet and Republican machines of the time.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 is one of the most famous fighter aircraft of World War II, but its operational career began during the Spanish Civil War. The first production variant of the Bf 109B, known as the "Berta", entered service in 1937 and was deployed with the German Legion Condor on the Nationalist side. The machines clashed with Soviet-built Republican aircraft such as the Polikarpov I-15 and I-16.
The experience gained in Spain became an invaluable source of knowledge for the German Air Force and for the development of the Bf 109 itself. The aircraft featured a low single wing, retractable landing gear and an enclosed cockpit - features that gave it a considerable advantage at the time. The Bf 109B soon became a symbol of the modern fighter concept that would set the course for development until World War II.
AZ-Model's 1/72nd scale kit features a detailed rendition of the early "Berta" variant with authentic features of the Legion Condor machines deployed over Spain. It offers the opportunity to build a model that captures the early combat career of one of the most famous aircraft in aviation history.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
