The Grumman F-14D Tomcat was the latest and most technologically advanced variant of the US Navy's legendary deck fighter. It featured upgraded avionics, more powerful General Electric F110-GE-400 engines, and improved systems for tracking and destroying air and ground targets. The exhaust nozzles were one of the distinctive visual elements of the aircraft - their shape, size and details (especially the internal structure and position of the blades) greatly influence the overall impression of the model. Standard plastic parts in kits often simplify these elements, so resin replacements are a popular way to increase realism.
The Aires add-on offers the exhaust nozzles in the open position, which corresponds to the aircraft's condition on the ground or in low power modes. The resin design allows finer details such as internal slats, ribbing and transitions between nozzle sections to be captured. Installation requires careful removal of the original plastic parts, cleaning of the mating surfaces, sanding of the resin parts if necessary, and then bonding with a suitable adhesive (such as instant or epoxy). Due to the nature of resin, it is advisable to wash the parts with warm water and detergent before bonding to remove any residual separator from the mould.
