1/72 Hobby 2000 72081 F-4K Phantom FG.1 Late vol.1
The 1/72nd scale model of the Hobby 2000 F-4K Phantom FG.1 Late vol.1 depicts the British version of the famous American fighter aircraft with modifications for Royal Navy and RAF service. The FG.1 version featured a more substantial undercarriage and was optimized for operation from aircraft carriers. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
The F-4K Phantom FG.1 was a British modification of the American McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II multirole aircraft. This version was developed for the Royal Navy and subsequently for the Royal Air Force. Unlike the original American models, the F-4K was equipped with British Rolls-Royce Spey engines and other modifications such as a strengthened landing gear for operation on Ark Royal and Hermes class aircraft carriers.
The aircraft was characterized by its superior speed, load capacity, and versatility, although its deployment in Britain was limited due to aircraft carrier restrictions. Nevertheless, it played an important role in British defence during the Cold War, particularly in fighter protection against intruders in the North Sea area. The FG.1 version saw service both at sea and with the RAF, where it operated from land bases.
The 1/72nd scale kit from Hobby 2000 uses high quality Hasegawa mouldings and is complemented by top quality decals from Cartograf to allow the aircraft to be built in a later service configuration. This is an attractive model for fans of the British Air Force and classic Cold War fighters. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
