1/72 M3 Bradley, US Cavalry Fighting Vehicle
The M3 Bradley is a model of the American combat reconnaissance vehicle developed as a variant of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle platform. The vehicle was developed under the FVS program by combining reconnaissance and infantry vehicle requirements and entered the US Army's arsenal in the late 1970s. The M3 Bradley shares its main armament with the M2 infantry version - a 25 mm automatic cannon, coaxial machine gun and anti-tank guided TOW missiles - but carries a larger ammunition supply and is modified for reconnaissance duties, including carrying two reconnaissance vehicles, special electronics and equipment.
The M3 Bradley was created as a reconnaissance variant of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle family, which unified the requirements for a mechanized infantry and reconnaissance armored vehicle. Development began in the 1970s under the MICV and ARSV programs, and in 1977 the concepts were merged into the Fighting Vehicle Systems project, resulting in two versions - the M2 for infantry and the M3 for US Army reconnaissance units. The first production units were introduced into service in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The M3 retains the same main armament as the M2 - the M242 Bushmaster 25 mm calibre automatic gun, the M240C coaxial machine gun7.62 mm and a pair of TOW missiles, while having a larger ammunition supply (1,500 rounds for the gun, 4,300 for the machine gun and up to 10 TOW rounds). Inside, it offers space for a two-man reconnaissance team and specialised equipment, including a portable radar, advanced communications equipment and night optics. Modifications at the rear allow the transport of a small reconnaissance motorcycle, increasing the unit's tactical capabilities. During its service, the M3 underwent several upgrades to increase ballistic protection, mine resistance and armament effectiveness. The vehicle was deployed, for example, in the Persian Gulf War and later in operations in the Middle East.
The kit captures the Bradley's distinctive lines, detailed hull features, armament and reconnaissance equipment, allowing for a faithful miniature of a US Army combat vehicle.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
