1/72 P-47C-2/5 "Thunderbolt" with Ferry tank
KPM 1/72 P-47C-2/5 "Thunderbolt" is a model of early versions of one of the most robust American fighter aircraft of WWII. The C-2 and C-5 variants served in the USAAF's first operational deployments to Europe during 1943 and were characterized by incremental modifications to the design and equipment. The kit offers accurate shapes, fine paneling, and authentic details consistent with both early modifications.
The Republic P-47C Thunderbolt was one of the first developmental stages of the famous "Jugger", a fighter aircraft that soon became the backbone of American forces in Europe. Early C-2 and C-5 variants retained the powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine, eight .50 caliber machine guns, and the iconic rugged design that allowed the aircraft to return even with extensive damage. The C-2 version was one of the first production machines deployed over the Atlantic, while the C-5 brought minor design improvements, avionics modifications, and improved ergonomics, increasing reliability and pilot comfort in the operational tempo of 1943.
The 1/72nd scale Prostějov Kovozávody kit faithfully depicts both of these early variants, with accurate proportions, finely engraved paneling and detailed cockpit. The model offers realistic chassis and armament and allows a choice of markings to match the Thunderbolt deployment in Europe. The quality mouldings, good moulding and solid construction make it suitable for collectors of American fighter aircraft as well as a complement to dioramas from the first phase of P-47 deployment.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
