The Consolidated PBY Catalina was one of the best known and most used flying boats of World War II. The U.S. Navy and Air Force deployed it in a wide range of missions - from patrolling over the ocean to searching for enemy submarines to rescue and transport missions. The Catalina's long range, reliability, and ability to land and take off from the water's surface made it an ideal machine for operations in both the Pacific and Atlantic. It also served in many other countries and in various modifications.
The resin add-on from Aires brings improvements to the 1:72 scale PBY-3 and PBY-4 Catalina kits. The kit includes more accurately shaped engine cowlings (cowlings), which better match the actual geometry of the model, and closed flaps, parts showing the aircraft at rest on the ground or surface. These components replace the standard plastic parts of the kit and allow for a higher level of detail and historical accuracy. The resin parts require careful separation from the casting blocks, cleaning and bonding with a suitable adhesive (preferably CA or epoxy based). The add-on is intended for advanced modelers with experience working with resin. The package does not contain paints or adhesives.
