Academy 12404 - JU87G-2 STUKA "KANONEN VOGEL" (1:72) represents the Junkers Ju 87G-2, a late-war Stuka configured specifically for attacking armored targets. This is not the earlier dive-bomber fit most often associated with the type, but the cannon-armed ground-attack version identified by its pair of 37 mm BK 37 guns carried in underwing pods.

The G-2 variant

The Ju 87G series was developed for anti-tank work. The G-2 followed the G-1 and used the extended wing introduced on the D-5. That combination makes this boxing a distinct choice from earlier Ju 87B, R or D versions, both in appearance and in the role it represents.

Markings in this release

The decals cover Ju 87G-2, Kommodore SG2, Maj. Hans-Ulrich Rudel, summer 1944, Russia. If you want a late Eastern Front Stuka in dedicated anti-armor configuration rather than a bomb-carrying dive bomber, this is the specific version this kit is built around.

What is in the box

Inside are plastic parts for assembly, clear parts, decals and instructions. The model features engraved panel lines and rivet detail, with the cockpit and landing gear also represented as prominent areas of the finished aircraft. Glue, paints and brushes are not included.
