AK Enamel effects HEAVY CHIPPING EFFECTS ACRYLIC FLUID

AK Interactive AK089 Heavy Effects Acrylic Fluid (35 ml) is an acrylic product designed for creating pronounced scuffs and larger areas of chipped topcoat. It is applied between the base coat and the topcoat. When moistened with water, it allows you to controllably damage the top layer and reveal the paint underneath. For finer scratches and subtle wear, use AK088 Worn Effects Acrylic Fluid.

Recommended Procedure

1. First, paint the model with a color that should be visible beneath the scuffs, such as a dark base color, rust, or a metallic shade. Allow the base coat to cure completely.
2. Apply the medium with a brush or airbrush in an even and sufficient layer to the areas where you plan to create wear. Let it dry.
3. Apply a top coat of acrylic paint over the medium. Work with a reasonably thin layer so that it can be deliberately chipped away later.
4. Once the top layer of acrylic paint is dry to the touch, moisten a small section of the surface with clean water and let it briefly soak into the medium.
5. Rub the surface with a damp brush with stiffer bristles, and deliberately create larger chips using a toothpick or needle. Work in small sections and gradually increase the intensity.
6. Let the result dry thoroughly. Before further weathering, you can seal it with a suitable varnish according to the subsequent technique.

Important Guidelines

• Activation is performed with clean water, not White Spirit or enamel thinner.
• This is not a paint or a final coat; it is an intermediate layer intended exclusively for creating scuffs.
• You’ll have the best control by working on smaller areas. A topcoat that’s too thick is more difficult to remove.
• Before applying to the finished model, test the combination of base coat, medium, and topcoat on a sample.
