Moss is one of the most rewarding elements for modelers who want to give their pieces a sense of age and belonging to nature. AK Realistic Green Moss (AK8132) is a medium green shade that simulates moss at its most active stage of growth. Unlike the dark version, this moss looks fresher and is great for representing areas where there is plenty of moisture, but where scattered light occasionally penetrates.

This product is indispensable for dioramas set in European forests, old gardens or stream beds. In historical modelling it is great for details on concrete bunkers (e.g. Atlantic Wall), for bringing stone bridges to life or for depicting the fine vegetation on long-idled vehicles in jungles or temperate zones. Moss can visually "break up" large monotonous areas and add organic character to a model.

Application techniques and tips

Working with AK-Interactive moss is a creative process that allows the modeler to work with different volumes and textures.

• Application: moss is applied in small clumps or spread over the surface. For fixing to the surface, we recommend using white glue (PVA) or the specialised AK118 Gravel & Sand Fixer, which due to its buoyancy anchors the material perfectly.

• For maximum realism, we recommend combining this Green Moss with a darker version(AK8131 Dark Green Moss). This way you achieve natural shading - darker moss for deeper cracks and corners, lighter moss for protruding areas.

• Colouring options. If you want to achieve a specific colour, such as brownish or yellowish dry moss), you can paint the material with acrylic paints after drying using an airbrush or brush, or tint with oil washes.
