Airfix North American P-51D Mustang A01004B in 1:72 scale represents one of the best-known American fighters of the Second World War. Designed to RAF requirements, the Mustang was transformed by the introduction of the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Its combination of long range and heavy armament made it a key escort fighter for bomber missions deep over occupied Europe, including flights to Berlin and back. After the war, the type also served in Korea and remained in use with some air arms into the early 1980s.
