Information about the original and the model:
During the Royal Air Force’s air operations in the 1991 Gulf War, the effectiveness of Iraqi air defenses forced Tornado and Jaguar attack missions to fly at higher altitudes, which reduced their effectiveness.

To effectively drop “smart” munitions, they therefore needed support from aging Blackburn Buccaneer jets equipped with Pave Spike laser targeting systems. The only problem was that these aircraft were far away, at their home base in Scotland.

A real race against time ensued. Within a few days, however, twelve Buccaneers in their new “desert camouflage”—complete with their laser designators—were ready to take off for the Persian Gulf, piloted by the self-proclaimed “Sky Pirates.”
