Information about the original and the model:
The Hawker Hunter was a beautiful, refined aircraft with sleek lines, but at its core a deadly fighter that proved the old adage: “If it looks good, it’s good.”

The FGA.9 variant, which highlighted the Hunter’s adaptability, was developed in response to a request from the RAF to replace the Venom attack aircraft serving with units in the Middle East. It was essentially an F.6 airframe optimized for close air support operations.

Reinforcements to the Hunter’s wings allowed it to carry an impressive range of attack armament. For the RAF, the FGA.9 thus marked the arrival of one of the most capable ground-attack fighters. A total of 128 were in service with both domestic and overseas squadrons.
