The Churchill served as the standard British infantry tank from 1941 onward. It was not a particularly fast vehicle, but it had thick armor, good firepower, and decent off-road handling. The Mk.VII version was armed with a 75mm gun and featured reinforced frontal armor. It saw its first combat action in 1944 in Normandy.
