The term Leichte Panzerspähwagen (light armored reconnaissance vehicle) refers to German 4×4 armored vehicles manufactured between 1935 and 1944. Development took place at the Eisenwerk Weserhütte factory in Bad Oeynhausen. The body was assembled by Auto Union in Zwickau, and final assembly was carried out by F. Schichau in Elbing and Maschinenfabrik Niedersachsen in Hanover. Its armament consisted of a 2-cm KwK 30 L/55 cannon and a 7.92-mm MG34 machine gun. The Horch 801 gasoline engine, with a displacement of 3.5 liters, produced 90 horsepower. The vehicle’s maximum speed on paved surfaces was 80 km/h, and 40 km/h off-road.
