Italeri 1411 - A-7E Corsair II (1:72)

The 1:72 scale Italeri A-7E Corsair II plastic kit depicts the late carrier-based strike version of the LTV A-7. Developed in the first half of the 1960s for a U.S. Navy requirement, the type was intended to replace the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk and the piston-engined Douglas A-1 Skyraider. Although derived from the Vought F-8 Crusader airframe, it was adapted for the attack role. Hallmarks of the aircraft included the large air intake beneath the cockpit, 35-degree folding swept wings for carrier deck operations, and a modern head-up display.

The A-7E was the last version produced for the U.S. Navy. Its underwing hardpoints allowed a substantial strike load ranging from conventional bombs to Paveway guided bombs and air-to-surface missiles. This variant also gained compatibility with Harpoon anti-ship missiles and AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles.

The box contains plastic parts, decals for four marking options, and an instruction sheet. The manufacturer recommends flat Italeri acrylic paints: Black 4768AP, Dark Green 4726AP, Dark Tan 4709AP, Medium Green I 4314AP, and White 4769AP. The finished length is 195 mm, and the kit carries a Skill 3 rating.
