The Sd.Kfz.251 half-track was an armored combat vehicle deployed by the Wehrmacht on all battlefronts during World War II. It was powered by a six-cylinder Maybach gasoline engine, which allowed it to reach speeds of 55 km/h even off-road. It was produced in vast quantities and was used primarily to transport “Panzergrenadiers.” However, several variants were developed during the war to meet various additional operational requirements. The Sd.Kfz. 251/8 “Krankenpanzerwagen” variant was equipped and used near the front lines as an armored ambulance. It could carry up to eight seated wounded soldiers or four seated and two lying wounded on stretchers, along with the necessary first-aid equipment and other medical supplies.
