KURFÜRST DUAL COMBO 1/72
Eduard 1/72 Kurfürst DUAL COMBO is a plastic model of the legendary German Messerschmitt Bf-109K fighter aircraft from the last phase of World War II. The package contains parts for building two complete models, photo-etched parts (some pre-coloured), paint masks and 9 variants of markings. The Bf-109K "Kurfürst" was the fastest mass-produced version of this iconic fighter, reaching speeds of up to 730 km/h. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Messerschmitt Bf-109 is one of the most famous and most produced fighter aircraft in history, with approximately 35,000 of all versions produced. From the first flight of the prototype on 29 May 1935 until the end of the war in 1945, this single-engine low-flying aircraft underwent constant development, making it the backbone of the Luftwaffe's fighter force. The Bf-109 fought on all fronts of the 2nd Air Force. World War 2 - from Spain to the Battle of Britain, North Africa to the Eastern Front - and became the machine flown by many German aces, including Adolf Galland.
The Bf-109K "Kurfürst" version represented the pinnacle of the design's development. It entered production in October 1944, at a time when the Luftwaffe desperately needed a powerful fighter capable of facing Allied bombers and escort fighters. The Bf-109K was equipped with the Daimler-Benz DB 605DB or DC engine, which enabled it to reach a top speed of up to 730 km/h (730 mph) - the highest of any mass-produced version of the Bf-109. Armament consisted of two 13mm MG 131 machine guns mounted in the fuselage and a 20mm MG 151 cannon or the heavier 30mm MK 108. Despite its late introduction into service and the limited number of examples produced, the Kurfürst was a testament to the enormous potential of the basic airframe designed by Willi Messerschmitt more than a decade earlier.
The 1:72 scale Eduard kit in the DUAL COMBO variant offers parts to build two complete models, ideal for comparing different markings or for sharing with another modeller. The package includes photo-etched parts (PE-sets), some of which are pre-painted, making it easy to detail the cockpit, landing gear and other fine features. The included paint masks make it easy to spray the cockpit and wheel visors. Nine marking variations cover different units and pilots from the last phase of the war, making it possible to build a historically accurate model to match a specific machine. For modellers, the Bf-109K represents an opportunity to build a less common but technically advanced version of one of history's most important fighters. The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
