Mr. Color (10 ml) IJN Type22 Camouflage Color

Mr. Hobby C605 IJN Type22 Camouflage Color (10 ml) is a key color that reflects changes in camouflageJapanese Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) camouflage schemes during the Pacific War.

✈️ Historical Context of the Shade

Beginning in about 1943, when newer versions of the legendary Zero (e.g., Model 22, 52) appeared, there was a gradual transition to darker, more green camouflage. This shade of Type 22 Camouflage Color represents this darker, often more distinctive green/green/gray color that was applied to the upper surfaces of naval aircraft.

• Color Characteristic: Shade C605 is darker and contains more green pigment than the earlier Type 21 grey-green shade (C604). This color better simulated camouflage over tropical islands and jungles where much of the fighting took place in the later stages of the war.

• Use: It was commonly used on the upper surfaces of the aircraft, while the lower surfaces remained light grey or were later painted with a dark camouflage paint as well.

• Finish: Matte (Flat) finish.
