The F-35B Lightning II is a single-seat, single-engine supersonic jet aircraft equipped with the most advanced computer and technical capabilities ever used in flight. Its advanced stealth capabilities are designed to make it difficult for enemy radars to detect. The F-35B variant has a fan mounted behind the cockpit, providing short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) capability, meaning it can hover like a Harrier. The F-35 can take off from land alongside the Typhoon, but its most important role is operations on the Royal Navy’s two Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.
