Quick Build tank J6042 - Sherman Firefly (1:35)

Airfix Quick Build Sherman Firefly J6042 represents the British conversion of the American M4 Sherman armed with the 17-pounder anti-tank gun. The longer barrel made the Firefly instantly recognisable and, after the Normandy landings, gave Allied units a Sherman variant capable of taking on German Tiger and Panther tanks. Fireflies were commonly issued at a ratio of one vehicle to four standard Shermans, which also meant their distinctive gun drew immediate enemy attention, prompting British crews to disguise the forward part of the barrel with a light finish.

This 1:35 scale plastic kit belongs to the Quick Build range and uses a snap-fit system that requires neither glue nor paint. Inside the box are 154 pre-coloured parts, assembly instructions and stickers for finishing. Once assembled, the turret remains poseable, the wheels are movable and the tracks are supplied as separate linkable sections. The parts are also compatible with other brick-based construction systems.
