Tamiya 60324 F4U-1 Corsair "Birdcage" in 1/32 scale captures the first production variant of the famous airbornefighter aircraft that was deployed during World War II in combat in the Pacific Theater. The F4U-1 Corsair, produced from 1942, became one of the most successful fighter aircraft of the US Navy and Marine Corps (USMC).

The F4U-1 "Birdcage" version got its nickname because of an early type of cockpit overlay with steel struts that reduced the pilot's view, but were later replaced by a bubble overlay. The aircraft had a powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 engine that allowed it to achieve high speeds and exceptional maneuverability. Its heavily armored wings and rugged construction made it ideal for attack missions against ground targets and air combat against Japanese Zeros.
