The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9, known as the "Dora", was one of the most powerful German fighter aircraft of World War II. Compared to previous versions, it had a longer fuselage and a more powerful Junkers Jumo 213 engine, giving it excellent performance at high altitudes. At the end of the war, it was mainly used to defend strategic points and was deployed as an escort in the JV44 (Jagdverband 44) unit of the GermanMe 262 jet fighters, which were vulnerable to Allied attacks during take-off and landing.
The JV44s were characterised by their distinctive red livery with light stripes on the undersurfaces, which made them easy to spot by German anti-aircraft units.
The Tamiya 1/72 Fw 190D-9 JV44 kit features precision-machined plastic parts with finely engraved panels, a realistic cockpit with instrument panel detail and the option of an open or closed cockpit overlay. The model also includes authentic decals for specific machines serving in JV44.
The high quality workmanship and historical accuracy make this model ideal for modelers interested in German aircraft from the end of WWII.
