HP.52 Hampden Wheels 1/48 / for ICM Kits
CMK HP.52 Hampden Wheels 1/48 is a set of resin wheels designed for the ICM Handley Page Hampden Mk.I kit in 1:48 scale. The set includes the main landing gear wheel with highly detailed tyres featuring simulated load marks, and the tail wheel. It is a direct replacement for the plastic parts in the kit.
The Handley Page Hampden Mk.I was a British twin-engine medium bomber which entered service with the RAF in 1938 and, during the early years of the Second World War, formed the backbone of Bomber Command alongside the Wellington and Whitley. It was nicknamed the ‘Flying Suitcase’ because of its unusually narrow but tall fuselage, which offered the crew very little space. The Hampden took part in the first British air raids on German territory and the first attacks on Berlin in August 1940. It was withdrawn from Bomber Command in 1942, when it was replaced by four-engined heavy bombers; some of the aircraft then continued in the role of torpedo bombers with Coastal Command and the Soviet Naval Air Force.
The CMK HP.52 Hampden Wheels 1/48 kit (cat. no. 129-4521) is a resin accessory set designed specifically for the ICM Handley Page Hampden Mk.I model kit in 1:48 scale. It contains the main landing gear wheels with finely moulded tyres featuring simulated load (so-called ‘weighted tyres’ — tyres deformed by the weight of the stationary aircraft) and the tail wheel. The resin castings offer a significantly higher level of detail compared to the standard plastic parts from the kit and are direct replacements for them. The pack does not contain paints or adhesives.
