Italeri 2845 1/48 AB.205 / UH-1D ″SAR″

The Bell UH-1 “Huey” is one of the best-known and most widely used helicopters of the second half of the 20th century. The UH-1D variant featured an extended fuselage with a more spacious cabin, making it an exceptionally versatile aircraft suitable for troop transport, the evacuation of the wounded, resupply and a range of other tasks. The European variant, the Agusta-Bell AB.205, produced under licence, was based on the same design and was operated in many countries. The characteristic sound of its rotor and its unmistakable silhouette made the ‘Huey’ one of the icons of helicopter aviation, a name still recognised by the general public today.

In the SAR (Search and Rescue) configuration, this model carried out search and rescue missions, where its reliability, payload capacity and ability to operate in challenging conditions proved invaluable. For this purpose, the helicopters were fitted with specific equipment, which distinguishes this kit from the standard variants.

This 1:48 scale Italeri kit is a glue-together model, complete with parts specific to the rescue variant — a rescue winch, SAR equipment and ceiling lighting for the medical compartment. The assembled model measures approximately 27 cm in length, making it a striking display piece. The included ‘super decal’ sheet contains decals for six authentic colour schemes, allowing the modeller to choose from several different operators and liveries. This model lends itself well to highlighting the panelling, as well as adding operational grime and wear and tear befitting the intensive service of rescue helicopters. The pack does not contain the paints or glue required for assembly.
