1/35 StuG.III Ausf.G with Zimmerit (July 1944, Late Production)
Brand: Dragon

Sturmgeschütz III (StuG.III) was one of the most successful and most numerous German armoured vehicles 2. World War II. It was originally designed as an infantry support gun, but became an effective tank destroyer during the war due to the gradual increase in barrel calibre. The Ausf.G, introduced into production in December 1942, was the last and most widely used variant to pass throughIt underwent a series of production modifications to reflect the changing needs of the front and to simplify production. Late production in July 1944 included, among other things, the application of the Zimmerit anti-magnetic coating to protect the armour from the adhesion of magnetic mines. StuG.III proved itself on all fronts - from the deserts of North Africa to the Eastern Front to the final battles in the Western Europe - and its low silhouette, solid armour and effective armament made it a formidable opponent.

Dragon 1:35 depicts a late production version from July 1944 with the distinctive Zimmerit anti-magnetic coating pre-formed on the armor panels, making the modelers' job easier and enhancing the authenticity of the final model. This version represents the technique at a time when the Wehrmacht was facing the Allied advance in the west after the Normandy landings, as well as the continued pressure from the Red Army in the east. Vehicles from this production series bore the typical hallmarks of simplified wartime production - for examplesuch as welded details instead of castings, changes to the exhaust system or the removal of some previously standard features. Of interest to modellers is the possibility of depicting the vehicle in combat with appropriate weatheringm Zimmerit, operational wear, dust and mud according to the chosen environment (Normandy, Eastern Front, Italy).

The 1:35 scale is the standard for military equipment and allows detailed treatment of the chassis, armour, armament and minor operational elements. The model can be supplemented with crew figures, accessories from photo-etched parts or incorporated into a diorama depicting a specific combat situation or unit rest. The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
