1/48 Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/R2 part 1 - JG 3 Butcherbirds / Fw 190A-8 Rammjäger
ASK 1/48 Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/R2 part 1 is a decal sheet for four armoured fighters of the JG 3 Sturm units in 1944, including Werner Gerth's “Black 13”.
This 1/48 ASK decal sheet provides four marking options for Fw 190A-8/R2s of the Sturm (assault) Staffeln of Jagdgeschwader 3. “Black 13” of 11.(Sturm)/JG 3 was flown in July 1944 by Werner Gerth, later awarded the Knight's Cross. Two options – “Black 8” and “Yellow 2” of 4./JG 3 – are linked to pilot Willi Maximowitz and Dreux airfield in 1944, with “Black 8” dated June 1944. The fourth is Willi Unger's “Yellow 17” of 12./JG 3 at Barth, May 1944.
The Fw 190A-8/R2 was a heavily armoured Fw 190 version with which the Sturmgruppen attacked US heavy bomber formations at close range, ramming them as a last resort – hence the Rammjäger nickname. Part 2 of the series is 200-D48076. If necessary, the decal carrier varnish can be removed by washing it off with Zippo lighter fluid.
