RCsubs SKU-095 is a 1:144 scale photo-etched deck and detail set for the Type XXI submarine from Revell kits 05177, 05081, 05078, and 05004.
This comprehensive set replaces the flat and overly thick parts with finer photo-etched components on the deck, hull, and conning tower. The instructions include variants U-2540, U-2502, U-2511, U-2518, U-3034, and U-3514; therefore, select the specific submarine before assembly and use the corresponding parts.
Recommended Procedure
- Separate the etched parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and gently clean up the contact points.
- Before removing the plastic, compare each step with the RCsubs instructions and repeatedly test-fit the parts without glue.
- Create bends gradually using tweezers or an etching bender; adjust larger shaped parts to the hull slowly and without snapping them.
- Glue the parts using a small amount of cyanoacrylate adhesive. Before painting, degrease the surface and apply a thin coat of primer.
