1/32 B-17 G recommended for HKM
Yahu Models 1/32 B-17 G is a set of colour photo-etch dashboards for Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress kit by Hong Kong Models in 1:32 scale. The parts feature JustStick (self-adhesive) technology, which allows for easy assembly without the need for gluing. The kit enhances cockpit detail and brings a realistic look to the instruments.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was one of the most famous and important heavy bombers of the United States during World War II. The machine was designed as a strategic bomber capable of operating at high altitudes and conducting daily precision bombing raids. The G version, which appeared in 1943, was the largest and most sophisticated variant of the entire B-17 line - it brought enhanced defensive armament, including a nose turret with a pair of .50, which greatly improved protection against frontal attacks by enemy fighters. The B-17G became a symbol of the American bombing campaign over Europe, where they flew in huge formations protected by mutual fire support. For crews and ground personnel alike, the cockpit, with its densely populated instrument panel, was the center of the machine's control - pilots, navigatorsengineers and flight engineers monitored the dozens of instruments necessary for navigation, engine control, fuel control and mission coordination.
Yahu Models' photo-etch instrument panel set is designed for Hong Kong Models' 1:32 scale kits, which are among the largest and most detailed B-17G models available. The photo-etch allows the fine details of the instruments to be displayed that would be either simplified or completely absent in conventional plastic - dials, hands, labels and controls are created with high precision. The parts are colour-printed, meaning that dials, scales and other elements have pre-applied colours to matchmatching the actual instruments, eliminating the need for the modeler to do intricate hand painting of small details.
JustStick technology (self-adhesive backing) simplifies assembly - parts are simply peeled off the backing sheet and applied to a designated location in the cockpit where they adhere without the need for glue. This is particularly advantageous for small and fragile photo-etch parts where handling the adhesive could lead to damage or unwanted surface contamination. The result is a cockpit with a realistic appearance that matches historical photographs and B-17G technical documentation. The kit is designed to closely match the dimensions and layout of the parts in the Hong Kong Models kit, making it an ideal addition for modelers who want to achieve the maximum level of detail and authenticity.
