Trumpeter 1/32 F6F-5 Hellcat depicts the later production version of the US Navy fighter from World War II. The Hellcat carried six .50-calibre machine guns and used folding wings to save carrier deck space. Changes on the F6F-5 included a revised engine cowling.
Kit 02257 contains 364 parts, an engine with clear cowling, gun bays with machine guns and ammunition, photo-etched belts, instrument film and rubber tyres. The outer wings are separate parts. Decals provide two US options, including VF-27 No. 7 aboard USS Princeton in 1944 with its prominent mouth design. The exposed gun bays and transparent cowling allow the aircraft’s mechanical details to remain visible. Paints and glue required for assembly are not included.
